Garage door openers are handy appliances until something goes wrong then they can actually make it harder to open the door.

Some units will actually reconnect themselves but this is not typically the case. Pull the emergency release rope toward the opener motor head. This short video goes along with one of our blogs on the d d garage door website. The emergency release cord is there to make sure that doesn t happen.

This prevents the carriage from reconnecting to the opener rail trolley allowing full manual operation of the door. You need to check the release handle and make sure that it is on the track. Simply slide the door along the track until the attachment point is re engaged. When the time comes to reconnect your garage door simply pull the emergency release cord back toward the door to re engage the spring lever.

If you have ever needed to disconnect the opener from the door due to pow. The first thing to do is hit the door button. Or you can hit your garage door opener remote and the opener carriage will reconnect with the trolley through the attachment point automatically. Step 2 raise the garage door fully.

You will hear a loud click when the trolley attaches back to the carriage. You can then manually move the door to the opener carriage or use the doors remote and it will connect automatically.
